Saturday, my son and I made our quarterly trip to a card show about 40 minutes from home. This show usually features a good variety of cards we are looking for, vintage, and bargain boxes. This time, the bargain boxes were not much of a bargain. Most of what we found were base cards in the dollar bins, or $5 boxes full of common inserts that should be fifty cents or less. We found one dealer with a dime box with a few cards we could use.
I bought these along with 16 other cards for $2. I was pleased to find a couple of premium base cards and an oddball Todd Zeile card from 1990 that I have never seen before.
The vintage side of the show was much better. I stopped at several tables that had ungraded cards in various conditions. It is so nice to see that not all quality vintage cards are graded. I five cards from three different dealers.
This 1967 Maris was scattered out on a table along with some other 1960s cards. I was hesitant to ask a price since nothing had a sticker on it, but I was surprised to hear the dealer say $5. I could not pay him fast enough. It does have a couple of soft corners, but the centering is good, and it does not have any creases.
I finally finished my 1968 Topps team set. I found this card at a St. Louis card show in April, but the dealer wanted $60 for a card in similar condition. I paid $15 for this one. I don't know why my scanner cut off the bottom and right side. I am not an expert at card grades, but I would guess this one would be a solid 5.
My most expensive purchase of the day was this three card lot for $43. The top two 1963 cards are not perfect, but they fit my collection standards. The McCarver has some fuzzy corners, while the Mays/Musial has a slight crease above Mays' cap. The 1967 Schoendienst is a high-number short print that is in excellent condition.
The next show at this location is at the end of August. School will start by then, but I think football and band competitions begin in September, so we should be able to attend.

That 1967 NL RBI Leaders card is awesome! I love vintage league leader cards... especially when they exclusively feature hall of famers.
