That was not the case after my son and I attended a show on February 10th. It took a few days to sort the cards, and then I set them aside when getting to incoming trades. A month went by, and the cards were still on my desk waiting to be scanned. Thanks to the rain last night, I finally scanned them and filed them away.</p><p>This show was advertised as 200 tables. That was accurate, but a good 20-30 of them were Pokemon only. I have no problem with that, other than the fact those tables were scattered throughout the show floor. It would make more sense to have them in one area. I was on the hunt for ungraded vintage Cardinals and bargain boxes. The vintage was either graded or priced too high for my taste. The bargain boxes were ok. Most were $1, but I did happen to find a dime box in the last row. Wish I found it sooner. It was loaded with nice inserts and some parallels. I spent a total of $12 at the show, $10 with the dime box dealer. I will spare you the trade bait scans. A decent chunk of it has already been traded, anyway. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOoeYuj0DX0BCY8BD8I-Gw0ZTqw8WBHrc86mCXu3KsPHCH0sVP-FkW5AKJlsv2gK-Nt_201P5nDtjfsBzvT-A8FaHD9e3jsbzfh_7Wkvb3YXJi6Y5_6KHoR43scyNSwYrOy9lSc20PXDW248nbEUprKO6QNl3mrwn3cYUG1KBbTwR9LoSuMVhWbtVqasY/s2084/glossy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2084" data-original-width="1484" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOoeYuj0DX0BCY8BD8I-Gw0ZTqw8WBHrc86mCXu3KsPHCH0sVP-FkW5AKJlsv2gK-Nt_201P5nDtjfsBzvT-A8FaHD9e3jsbzfh_7Wkvb3YXJi6Y5_6KHoR43scyNSwYrOy9lSc20PXDW248nbEUprKO6QNl3mrwn3cYUG1KBbTwR9LoSuMVhWbtVqasY/s320/glossy.jpg" width="228" /></a></div><br />These 2018 A&G cards are the glossy hot box parallels, my first from that set.<div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhn09Dwqw_emJasml1-DXV6Rz8s3KYCTdCa4IX-IXXB2a_749ecPrQdoON3_4iKDPI0V8GjlpVwdGgCPd1AyDdlzdc_Nbczg8HaE4VO8gRwPmyCQoOCEnFzz9RaRxfb72F5stpOaW6GW9d4lT1smsFZO5mQFiXw9XctI7pQHXuH3uf2o_VuZgcEv9GHUQ/s1476/refractors.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1020" data-original-width="1476" height="221" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhn09Dwqw_emJasml1-DXV6Rz8s3KYCTdCa4IX-IXXB2a_749ecPrQdoON3_4iKDPI0V8GjlpVwdGgCPd1AyDdlzdc_Nbczg8HaE4VO8gRwPmyCQoOCEnFzz9RaRxfb72F5stpOaW6GW9d4lT1smsFZO5mQFiXw9XctI7pQHXuH3uf2o_VuZgcEv9GHUQ/s320/refractors.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />Not too many refractors in the box, but I managed to find a couple of 2022 Topps Chrome Cardinals I needed.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ6WIZnY4dZjKZ-qv6j6utr0ZygsSh2C_VjB_2RhnHDhDJWhKwG7_pol3OGGIzfaYHhP9P0jvgHyH_FMZutAIMSz4dRY83xKX2cewqGic8LEIgS6C6kSTOfk-aApXbFZ9SVwjJikzUKM4iQj1r9eHoiaeJHoTqSMypCuiZ3ZcLBVOLf7tg0FccZYpJg9Q/s1476/color.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1028" data-original-width="1476" height="223" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJ6WIZnY4dZjKZ-qv6j6utr0ZygsSh2C_VjB_2RhnHDhDJWhKwG7_pol3OGGIzfaYHhP9P0jvgHyH_FMZutAIMSz4dRY83xKX2cewqGic8LEIgS6C6kSTOfk-aApXbFZ9SVwjJikzUKM4iQj1r9eHoiaeJHoTqSMypCuiZ3ZcLBVOLf7tg0FccZYpJg9Q/s320/color.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />There were several different colored parallels across several brands. I bought quite a few numbered Bowman cards at a show last year for a dime each, but have not found any takers for them until now. Member bdhrbob also happens to be a member of Trading Bases. We worked out a nice Cardinals for Cubs swap that each of us received a week ago. Since then, we worked out an even larger trade over the weekend that arrived yesterday. I will showcase that one next week. Today you get the cards from the smaller first trade. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR2BVQVHefzrTDZNFxXG6H_ZaLRXZkKHLYU6fJh__E601ujomc64XmDYKVnr9EK3SjI0mK2JgOTvRpgrS-vgzu0s3NVOHOUMvmhoEHtHZHnogdWxE1mQWQwIjQRN04DQ3Hg8ldEk8q88hlgNRML9bZFcmpn4BdY7ZWZDeYv1_eAM0QQn8rJ_6athpWioQ/s2084/pristine.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2084" data-original-width="1484" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR2BVQVHefzrTDZNFxXG6H_ZaLRXZkKHLYU6fJh__E601ujomc64XmDYKVnr9EK3SjI0mK2JgOTvRpgrS-vgzu0s3NVOHOUMvmhoEHtHZHnogdWxE1mQWQwIjQRN04DQ3Hg8ldEk8q88hlgNRML9bZFcmpn4BdY7ZWZDeYv1_eAM0QQn8rJ_6athpWioQ/s320/pristine.jpg" width="228" /></a></div><br />These 3 2002 Topps Pristine cards started the trade. Guess it happens to everyone once in a while.<div><br /></div><div><br /><br /><p><br /></p><p> </p></div>CardinalsFan16http://www.blogger.com/profile/14120586875226942659noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1979972460161620732.post-50067882621895143592024-03-05T11:01:00.000-08:002024-03-05T11:01:23.175-08:00TCDB 2 for Tuesday #70<p>Today's post is somewhat of a follow up from yesterday's. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirgwadBAsx6Jt9xJG6cJJQUaGSAqiiXhA3CoTKfZjTM0zqGoRi1xBEcSUgMmQ3gaBBZSbEHw60LwBRKLTK7dfTv2Jc3E16li7h3mVfu4cHO80SfRrxiLSkWaJ1lKI73aVCZmuaB9-vzBjKgJS-ABT4HMWq0T5HuR1H-d5r6lM3r0NJoSBip6u0rzfm18w/s1476/topps.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1036" data-original-width="1476" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirgwadBAsx6Jt9xJG6cJJQUaGSAqiiXhA3CoTKfZjTM0zqGoRi1xBEcSUgMmQ3gaBBZSbEHw60LwBRKLTK7dfTv2Jc3E16li7h3mVfu4cHO80SfRrxiLSkWaJ1lKI73aVCZmuaB9-vzBjKgJS-ABT4HMWq0T5HuR1H-d5r6lM3r0NJoSBip6u0rzfm18w/s320/topps.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />Member astrosammy sent me the last 2 Cardinals I needed from 2024 Topps. It has not been very hard resisting the urge to open packs, as my local Walmart did not have any in stock until last Tuesday. It can be tough seeing the cool looking new cards onlince, but delayed gratification it a lot more cost effective in the card world. There are plenty of collectors on TCDB who have them for trade. Member RaysFanNC provided a great start to my team set.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz_nlFE-DmrbhwJWdVKeGMrRxDxqAO0xRKTiaC7JCd_uIinSDgIXiJKo5mJ-FTFniJctlmKBeXiMeTnhJ3hamMsYIZt2Sk31LJwFPEkHzb8Em1PaGsr-rt_7cZiOF0X83G4QQkrhm6fSfm_v5hPSjBBXmiylG4eeI1swYqLSWdwq8f-M__7JoAPjPoqyA/s2084/topps%201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2084" data-original-width="1472" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz_nlFE-DmrbhwJWdVKeGMrRxDxqAO0xRKTiaC7JCd_uIinSDgIXiJKo5mJ-FTFniJctlmKBeXiMeTnhJ3hamMsYIZt2Sk31LJwFPEkHzb8Em1PaGsr-rt_7cZiOF0X83G4QQkrhm6fSfm_v5hPSjBBXmiylG4eeI1swYqLSWdwq8f-M__7JoAPjPoqyA/s320/topps%201.jpg" width="226" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0Cw8VtrruuvE9pDw96uYH_gPypGGv44n5Ub8uAN4QFr8R9nNh27N8CWVM9TeDpjHjEZMhYadrqemYXGMwNAgy1PO-Inj66H9v862oXiu-M7pt3sxr75Eii8zuXvjWX1gS6vSuA9ojHddNI0Seq9ASVRimTUmFlGdyuVbIKoW8yASjgia5SISS1l_ZPgg/s1776/topps%202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1776" data-original-width="1472" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0Cw8VtrruuvE9pDw96uYH_gPypGGv44n5Ub8uAN4QFr8R9nNh27N8CWVM9TeDpjHjEZMhYadrqemYXGMwNAgy1PO-Inj66H9v862oXiu-M7pt3sxr75Eii8zuXvjWX1gS6vSuA9ojHddNI0Seq9ASVRimTUmFlGdyuVbIKoW8yASjgia5SISS1l_ZPgg/s320/topps%202.jpg" width="265" /></a></div><br /><p>Here are 7 of the 9 Cardinals in the base set. Hard to pick out a favorite, but I would go with the Contreras. His card shows off the emotion that he plays with. Fermin was an interesting choice for inclusion in the set. He played about 20 games for the Cardinals last year and batted .235. That was good enough for Topps to give him an autograph in the set. It has been selling for $5-10. I will wait until it falls into the $2-3.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuOR7B4omDVJ_v9idZuvw77Eq8mQCWCwG9TyHbQILZn_JDdYkSy44YZNe0P6OAZuo6GNGCvUiry9lcwVw9YLHjtx8k3Y7Qi9fWF7H15E2cO373663sXbnIgF8C1zlfh-17MOb4ZpggjlxReT6f-Jl-6xBE8OKuzB4UgsLNmH23PiSYDJINqANraxKu8go/s1024/burleson.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="728" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuOR7B4omDVJ_v9idZuvw77Eq8mQCWCwG9TyHbQILZn_JDdYkSy44YZNe0P6OAZuo6GNGCvUiry9lcwVw9YLHjtx8k3Y7Qi9fWF7H15E2cO373663sXbnIgF8C1zlfh-17MOb4ZpggjlxReT6f-Jl-6xBE8OKuzB4UgsLNmH23PiSYDJINqANraxKu8go/s320/burleson.jpg" width="228" /></a></div><br />I also received a 2023 Chrome Update card. I have a list of former Cardinals who have certified autographs which I do not have. Most cost less than $10, but some do not appear very often. My latest EBAY purchase is a great example.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNHIOtzK7NxF8zh41p_JiDqIACpzOVsZm92KBUAPj2742y0QSLKt-NGm0B8keUzpciMJzjXQxxjsMPQx3GxZt0Hg-3YH7hR2z8JDgDm5pwfAZNDIk3QRwVLpP6YQK7jDRTCMKo0tMuxjbnMvnsNLVTUvgucGDcTMtmfCx1_wio1kSto0BP3J93xzg7aZs/s1033/Kiko%20Calero.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="728" data-original-width="1033" height="226" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNHIOtzK7NxF8zh41p_JiDqIACpzOVsZm92KBUAPj2742y0QSLKt-NGm0B8keUzpciMJzjXQxxjsMPQx3GxZt0Hg-3YH7hR2z8JDgDm5pwfAZNDIk3QRwVLpP6YQK7jDRTCMKo0tMuxjbnMvnsNLVTUvgucGDcTMtmfCx1_wio1kSto0BP3J93xzg7aZs/s320/Kiko%20Calero.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />This 2004 UD Prosigs cost about $7 delivered. I have been searching for this card for a long time. I have seen it at some card shows near St. Louis but I did not like the double-digit price tag. Calero completes my team set. The autographs that year were part of the base set. The throwback uniform is a great look. <br /><br /><p></p><p>To my knowledge, this is Calero's only certified auto in a Cardinals uniform. He does have a couple of autos in an A's uniform. Calero played 2 seasons in St. Louis before being traded to Oakland in the Mark Mulder deal. He was a pretty good reliever for 3 seasons before getting hurt. He finished up his career with 1 year as a Marlin. </p><p> </p>CardinalsFan16http://www.blogger.com/profile/14120586875226942659noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1979972460161620732.post-704346528475047732024-02-27T11:00:00.000-08:002024-02-27T11:00:32.347-08:00TCDB 2 for Tuesday #69<p>Anybody else notice how slow the post office has been the past month? Some of my trades take twice as long to reach their destination. In the past, it took 3-4 days for something to arrive from my house to Denver. The last 2 times it has taken 5-6 days. You would think with the increase in stamps service would at least stay the same. I guess we are talking about the USPS where nothing is really predictable. At least my packages are still arriving. This one from member timmy16 arrived on Saturday.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDsEqvwWn9kXPs-tvsVhBdQNHIfqfKTrAUQkg1P83JDpK9jEtCL9O-HJRHIvpssDAc_Mnb6DsyW3n4diHlxrmYKMFRpCYuVwM4sLEDi43A1QaB9h-nbnQW9xCXVfYJCAxY-f9BTk5Hu0m47W3AdnTcYm_7kqLtBiphj4C7gVUBDh3MRrbveEiVPjbndq8/s1476/gold.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1028" data-original-width="1476" height="223" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDsEqvwWn9kXPs-tvsVhBdQNHIfqfKTrAUQkg1P83JDpK9jEtCL9O-HJRHIvpssDAc_Mnb6DsyW3n4diHlxrmYKMFRpCYuVwM4sLEDi43A1QaB9h-nbnQW9xCXVfYJCAxY-f9BTk5Hu0m47W3AdnTcYm_7kqLtBiphj4C7gVUBDh3MRrbveEiVPjbndq8/s320/gold.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />2 Topps Gold cards of former Cardinals. Back in 2014, Carlos Martinez was a future star. He was an All Star in 2015 and 2017, but lost his effectiveness shortly after. He last pitched in the MLB for Boston in 2021. I still root for him because he was always a nice guy anytime I met him.<p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhnd5Xe3kNnw_sPZUsxaMfAoixRXATYV198UkBcHtcW7gj6fYUFgoteSfTsx-2kA1wADVN94Kn31Im_Agc7G31DS4RdXfeR7HzENyYA7JWrfC__oUjfB5fAl4kfqxYrtryXjNEPKTyHLNZUwhQKfk0mmS_XVVfgbQipZXuNG-DCsf2XWocfd01R39OmWw/s1028/wong.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1028" data-original-width="728" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhnd5Xe3kNnw_sPZUsxaMfAoixRXATYV198UkBcHtcW7gj6fYUFgoteSfTsx-2kA1wADVN94Kn31Im_Agc7G31DS4RdXfeR7HzENyYA7JWrfC__oUjfB5fAl4kfqxYrtryXjNEPKTyHLNZUwhQKfk0mmS_XVVfgbQipZXuNG-DCsf2XWocfd01R39OmWw/s320/wong.jpg" width="227" /></a></div><br />I am ashamed to say I have not completed the 2014 Stadium Club team set yet. Panini included him in Donruss, Chronicles, and Immaculate and cranked out close to 50 new cards. I have managed to track down most of them other than printing plates and some cards with a print run of less than 5. </p><p>Earlier this month Panini released 2023 Flawless. I was excited to see Lankford was included in the checklist. My bank account was not so excited to see all 12 cards autographed and numbered to 25 or less. I hope 2024 is not more expensive than 2023. A handful of them have surfaced on EBAY, 2 with a starting price over $50. That is too rich for my blood. I was able to buy one for about $25 that arrived on Saturday.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilAFFGaGLGW55s_66BYyI2nVudIj72cMAJFx9-Eec2r6xLXIEQAUIBStGLP_4L6NgMucVWfcKzqrYph0-i0WYLIY81kSL4TyRIkxMbCiSIyRBhsqObBz1ZDCzIbE8u5V-j2HeokE4aVigrEr3bE7tD-u_Cc2JG-8KSHI0Tz-QXRO8vVBNYC8_Rr0Jt7i8/s1044/flawless.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1044" data-original-width="748" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilAFFGaGLGW55s_66BYyI2nVudIj72cMAJFx9-Eec2r6xLXIEQAUIBStGLP_4L6NgMucVWfcKzqrYph0-i0WYLIY81kSL4TyRIkxMbCiSIyRBhsqObBz1ZDCzIbE8u5V-j2HeokE4aVigrEr3bE7tD-u_Cc2JG-8KSHI0Tz-QXRO8vVBNYC8_Rr0Jt7i8/s320/flawless.jpg" width="229" /></a></div><br />This is the ruby version of the Signatures card. A look at his trade activity shows almost 3200 completed deals in close to 6 years. That is almost 1.5 trades per day. Crazy to think about the time he spends pulling cards and also the amount of postage he pays. We completed our 6th trade last week, which brought me a nice variety of Cardinals.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8ZDQgnq0_JGJvirTqT9TEaGXh2scLGAK2rFl1d3SXvIoKd49wvXF1seuXuJM_6RVNtsSQX06SVAJ7D1XSiPZH1PgEGbGip0-LEhhwR4Psue-4_qL_Q_9NiTAJApXLdY5I5aJElnFUiOgEg07qEQYqGNNdERPG64WOToJU66R1YfT4K8wMh77_4jNQHvs/s2080/old.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2080" data-original-width="1508" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8ZDQgnq0_JGJvirTqT9TEaGXh2scLGAK2rFl1d3SXvIoKd49wvXF1seuXuJM_6RVNtsSQX06SVAJ7D1XSiPZH1PgEGbGip0-LEhhwR4Psue-4_qL_Q_9NiTAJApXLdY5I5aJElnFUiOgEg07qEQYqGNNdERPG64WOToJU66R1YfT4K8wMh77_4jNQHvs/s320/old.jpg" width="232" /></a></div><br />The older cards in the trade feature 2 1982 Cramer Legends, a 1978 TMCA, and a 1984 Topps Rubdown. It contained 22 new Cardinals for my collection, all arriving in a single pwe. I was a little hesitant to open the envelope for fear that I would find some damaged cards, but all arrived in great shape. Kudos to TCDB member cjswinko for the careful packaging. All but 2 of the cards featured stars.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZGBpyTvBLe-gKW6CUvbJ3efdjZfjSHIhAiUQSB5n7KutUDd32GVJkFrzlNlAM4vmtoQt9a7JJRfBhBUcosW_veAEeJvQsbqr0aHTo2XVPSz1SBzns5UGSWGgaeBJDv7PBzLa3GeFFjiqngII8yYD_Y2lTiQAOrorznDYl6CAzsfTekn-kb3-Y_EumhoQ/s1024/mulder.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="728" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZGBpyTvBLe-gKW6CUvbJ3efdjZfjSHIhAiUQSB5n7KutUDd32GVJkFrzlNlAM4vmtoQt9a7JJRfBhBUcosW_veAEeJvQsbqr0aHTo2XVPSz1SBzns5UGSWGgaeBJDv7PBzLa3GeFFjiqngII8yYD_Y2lTiQAOrorznDYl6CAzsfTekn-kb3-Y_EumhoQ/s320/mulder.jpg" width="228" /></a></div><br />Mulder was a very good pitcher for the As, but could not stay healthy during his time with the Cardinals. The Cardinals first official day for pitchers and catchers is tomorrow, but I have seen plenty of social media posts with a lot of players already in camp. Games will start before you know it. </p><p>Tomorrow also happens to be the release date for 2024 Topps, although there have been some already out. I will most likely skip the pack busting and either join a group break, or trade for the team set. You may see some in a 2 for Tuesday post in the future. Until then, here are a couple of trades from last week. First up is a 4 pack of Cardinals from member Ballantine.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwvoQ1kD5CYOj_hl0HWRfjtv59coKP0zNy8tkozvTA-JvAVkg-LpMGZqcvg_LLV_eM9odXZ7CkIrA7polD3onGXsK_15NNCOI48N7KNZsXrT2YIfhVevfxSUnCtg-TC6KpYX1wIVAY2Uq1apn7Mfft4o57Q9Tiw_DFvcH5mu8gnIsGuGttztri0601VRU/s1028/ozzie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1028" data-original-width="728" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwvoQ1kD5CYOj_hl0HWRfjtv59coKP0zNy8tkozvTA-JvAVkg-LpMGZqcvg_LLV_eM9odXZ7CkIrA7polD3onGXsK_15NNCOI48N7KNZsXrT2YIfhVevfxSUnCtg-TC6KpYX1wIVAY2Uq1apn7Mfft4o57Q9Tiw_DFvcH5mu8gnIsGuGttztri0601VRU/s320/ozzie.jpg" width="227" /></a></div><br />I love adding these oddball cards like this 1988 Starting Lineup to my collection. I am currently #1 on the TCDB list, but I know some collectors who have more cards than me; just have not entered them on the website. There are also some collectors who have a more impressive collection than mine. One Cardinals fan from Indiana has the best autograph collection I have seen. He has most of the SP Legendary Cuts autographs of Cardinals who played before 1950. Very impressive.</p><p>One area of my collection that I tried to focus on last year was vintage. I added quite a few Cardinals from the 1950s and 1960s. I should complete a few sets this year. Some of them only need short prints or a Hall of Famer like Lou Brock or Bob Gibson to finish. Maybe I will be able to complete one tomorrow at a card show. </p><p>One Hall of Famer who has been absent from my vintage collection is Stan Musial. Up until a trade last week with TCDB member jsteved, the oldest Musial card in my collection was from 1980. I traded a duplicate 1963 Topps Bob Gibson for this:</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3q3VGz2Z6ieYcd_S_lMHiGb_knN_OkWOgMex7LLCvBkzzH1dDmRQHl0EljuVzwAqHZuUoABnZ-Q1RuSnNCseGLYwVIinX6ZkMsE0FV3_MEihew3x6m0E2ajRQAsqmLwWXkX8hFtfkq9du4joi2kG_bCX6AK5Sr2Ht6Ey-EkZGy73joBKcQddMoodjBW8/s1028/musial.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1028" data-original-width="724" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3q3VGz2Z6ieYcd_S_lMHiGb_knN_OkWOgMex7LLCvBkzzH1dDmRQHl0EljuVzwAqHZuUoABnZ-Q1RuSnNCseGLYwVIinX6ZkMsE0FV3_MEihew3x6m0E2ajRQAsqmLwWXkX8hFtfkq9du4joi2kG_bCX6AK5Sr2Ht6Ey-EkZGy73joBKcQddMoodjBW8/s320/musial.jpg" width="225" /></a></div><br />My first vintage Musial is from 1962 Topps. It is off-centered, but not as bad as my scanner made it out to be. It does have some of the wood border showing on the right side. Some soft corners but no major creases. I am very thankful to this member, as the Gibson I sent his way was not in this good of shape. <br /> <p></p>CardinalsFan16http://www.blogger.com/profile/14120586875226942659noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1979972460161620732.post-81655525909817885232024-02-08T11:31:00.000-08:002024-02-08T11:31:52.872-08:00Third Lankford of 2024 ... Sort Of<p>Any player collector who is a member of TCDB has their opinion on what constitutes a new card when there is a slight variation. Donruss sets from the early 1990s are notorious for missing periods or having slight border differences. For the most part, I did not actively seek the Ray Lankford variations. I was lucky enough to find another Cardinals collector who had most of them, and we worked out a trade last fall.</p><p><br />Topps was not exempt from the craze. 1991 flagship had some glow backs and dark logos, while Stadium Club had cards with 1 or 2 * on the back. Topps took things to the next level with 1993 Topps Gold contest cards. Collectors can chase after cards with contest backs, checklists backs, and A, B , C, D versions. Very confusing. Lankford has 8 different versions. My 5th different card arrived from EBAY earlier this week. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzQuN2r35DC6SCidrUqvnDoI-vov9iWsXj7TGy57sX2Hr2lacX5d7Eco-atnEzbU3nyBYL4YM9txJHdq_kiJZL5Dthmq-_54ULmWaYx2geRFqh1t9UaFcbPhPU3NSLhTbQttTAK6OoSfpttiJVyNHTTL5YPSX9w9os1KSZMe4sg2YvATml4rxiL1DtNIk/s1036/gold.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1036" data-original-width="732" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzQuN2r35DC6SCidrUqvnDoI-vov9iWsXj7TGy57sX2Hr2lacX5d7Eco-atnEzbU3nyBYL4YM9txJHdq_kiJZL5Dthmq-_54ULmWaYx2geRFqh1t9UaFcbPhPU3NSLhTbQttTAK6OoSfpttiJVyNHTTL5YPSX9w9os1KSZMe4sg2YvATml4rxiL1DtNIk/s320/gold.jpg" width="226" /></a></div><br />You almost have to get out a magnifying glass to make out the players. Lankford is the last card on the second row.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhstNoyIFgVgIWJRZdVhxyAs6KsQX3jfU2mXVIMyJB2VssouZPZ3UrG61eBcRslHlljsrtEjItX2zQilnXZiZ0V9xLd75IWGZH5r-iJ83zrbZOwdisdVQlKFkg3WCfthyPZzB3J__YtZUKsfGiczUcd7m2L00w820gQ3WxZxZhuycZXlKljqD99jv6dWZI/s318/up%20close.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="318" data-original-width="251" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhstNoyIFgVgIWJRZdVhxyAs6KsQX3jfU2mXVIMyJB2VssouZPZ3UrG61eBcRslHlljsrtEjItX2zQilnXZiZ0V9xLd75IWGZH5r-iJ83zrbZOwdisdVQlKFkg3WCfthyPZzB3J__YtZUKsfGiczUcd7m2L00w820gQ3WxZxZhuycZXlKljqD99jv6dWZI/s1600/up%20close.jpg" width="251" /></a></div><p>An up close scan is not much better. At least you can make out the Cardinals uniform. This treasure cost me about $2. One of the other versions is more rare and goes fro $10-15. I am not quite ready to pay that price for this type of card. My player collecting insanity does have its limits. <br /> </p>CardinalsFan16http://www.blogger.com/profile/14120586875226942659noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1979972460161620732.post-84361378544692255462024-02-07T12:09:00.000-08:002024-02-07T12:09:40.933-08:00Better than a Blaster EBAY Lot<p>Like quite a few other collectors, I have all but sworn off buying packs. I believe last year I purchased 2 blasters. I was never looking for the big hit. My son and I just enjoyed the thrill of opening cards. Now that he is a little older, we find more enjoyment in digging through boxes at card shows. It lasts longer and certainly is a better return on investment. </p><p>The money I save from buying packs goes into my card show and EBAY budget. Since the last show I went to was a dud, I had some money left over from my January budget to go EBAY shopping. Last week, I found a great 10-card Cardinals lot for a little less than the price of a blaster.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHLAczW70rrpqC1jZ9BLYKlz3kD6Kle_B-mkXIYBoEPkBCDxifDMUUu_D94dywMBrleb0XpvlvkO535M7uqYyCCfTgB3ZZ3ZLQZLkL0-RCjXjlashCUqK_fYZwy4RDugZ4qnYdHWxT1TsigZNricnmZbSmKCkP7FlmM8ntQzyXpP3znuf-oT7ECWQsfdk/s1024/base.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="732" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHLAczW70rrpqC1jZ9BLYKlz3kD6Kle_B-mkXIYBoEPkBCDxifDMUUu_D94dywMBrleb0XpvlvkO535M7uqYyCCfTgB3ZZ3ZLQZLkL0-RCjXjlashCUqK_fYZwy4RDugZ4qnYdHWxT1TsigZNricnmZbSmKCkP7FlmM8ntQzyXpP3znuf-oT7ECWQsfdk/s320/base.jpg" width="229" /></a></div><br />I have another copy of this Walker, but his cards are easy to trade to other Cardinals fans. <div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdh5Dpk0xB9zyVaXVHnpHYCgIEvJu4Z41amDembyOF6jpBF_xcnsRj3Ylg4Q0kaA0Ka-KXDWqKamAzzmD36Mi57f-xnj1CEHJgvOn7LJGXi9rrAPGrRgZ5sRLuTvVLg01tkqIYLLbjdAU2uGxWmGXITX7OgBPOjTjzjL1ePN_FEEXLSwgS-2tZJewh-fE/s1592/minis.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1592" data-original-width="868" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdh5Dpk0xB9zyVaXVHnpHYCgIEvJu4Z41amDembyOF6jpBF_xcnsRj3Ylg4Q0kaA0Ka-KXDWqKamAzzmD36Mi57f-xnj1CEHJgvOn7LJGXi9rrAPGrRgZ5sRLuTvVLg01tkqIYLLbjdAU2uGxWmGXITX7OgBPOjTjzjL1ePN_FEEXLSwgS-2tZJewh-fE/s320/minis.jpg" width="174" /></a></div><br />The top 2 minis are the base version, while the bottom 2 are the rookie design variations. Hopefully he he will have more lots in the future. <br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p> </p></div></div></div></div>CardinalsFan16http://www.blogger.com/profile/14120586875226942659noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1979972460161620732.post-21949313633877064742024-02-06T10:32:00.000-08:002024-02-06T10:32:49.620-08:00TCDB 2 for Tuesday #66<p>I had plenty of small trades to choose from for today's 2 for Tuesday post. I believe there were 8 stacks of cards on my deck waiting to be scanned. I will eventually get to them all, but for now you get the usual 2 small TCDB trades. First up is my 18th trade with fellow Cardinals fan timriess.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkC9GM2DhJPtE3LB08iSi8PfZHTQV91R9LSh4CHXaJU1P_H7ZQeGXHz1QOD9cytTJzs6AY3epsddqewla8jziBglPTSnixP2Qg3AKBp3Gey8HYiUu9kJEFNi2slo7fG5jO862QYR_f7mxn1k3eBUED-xX_yeKPUznTGv1rfutDGfFf-ZEDpsbI4mi2moI/s2076/platinum.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2076" data-original-width="1480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkC9GM2DhJPtE3LB08iSi8PfZHTQV91R9LSh4CHXaJU1P_H7ZQeGXHz1QOD9cytTJzs6AY3epsddqewla8jziBglPTSnixP2Qg3AKBp3Gey8HYiUu9kJEFNi2slo7fG5jO862QYR_f7mxn1k3eBUED-xX_yeKPUznTGv1rfutDGfFf-ZEDpsbI4mi2moI/s320/platinum.jpg" width="228" /></a></div><br />My 2023 Bowman Platinum team set is now complete. There is a big difference between the 2021 Miller card and the 2022 O'Neill card. They should get back to using the same border from the mid to late 2000s. I managed to complete a few, but I also found a nice Cardinals lot for sale on The Bench that was too good to pass up. I spent $14 on a 12 card lot that included a handful of pass cards and these highlights.</p><p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSiB30HuLj2GzFZX1An45dlXxHaaNbRUAZlgyi4Dq4TqUpGX6pHfwrbPlu2qHmA8IAaFRaB5neuVdlK5thRbB4dMOJh9laHYAfn5feBnd2jvbOuyER4gt6o78Pde5aK-bRNCdRrS5sMbfxN7anIAhTRr0nYFvmXCxoDPWo-HOl13ZzglLrfrCfgTXq9qs/s1028/Luis%20Rodriguez.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1028" data-original-width="728" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSiB30HuLj2GzFZX1An45dlXxHaaNbRUAZlgyi4Dq4TqUpGX6pHfwrbPlu2qHmA8IAaFRaB5neuVdlK5thRbB4dMOJh9laHYAfn5feBnd2jvbOuyER4gt6o78Pde5aK-bRNCdRrS5sMbfxN7anIAhTRr0nYFvmXCxoDPWo-HOl13ZzglLrfrCfgTXq9qs/s320/Luis%20Rodriguez.jpg" width="227" /></a></div><br />I doubt Rodriguez will ever see St. Louis, but he is a player I did not have an autograph of. Nice shot of him wearing the victory blue uniform. The 4 player card is from 2013 Topps Archives. This card shows 4 of the top 16 career stolen base leaders. I always thought Coleman had a chance to push for Henderson's record if he had stayed in St. Louis. In his 6 seasons there, he stole 549 bases.
