Countdown to Opening Day #2

Yes it is Good Friday, but no I did not get the day off work.  On the bright side, work is slow today so I have some spare time to write today's post while I am on the clock.  The Cardinals are slated to play an exhibition game against their triple A team in Memphis tonight, but mother nature might have other plans.  If they do not play today, their next game is 2 days away on opening night on ESPN against the Cubs.  Weather might play a factor in that one also, but for the sake of the countdown I will assume it is going to happen.

2004 Absolute Memorabilia Spectrum Red Schoendienst 1/100

Albert "Red" Schoendienst was a player on the Cardinals 1946 World Series Championship team.  He also managed the Cardinals to a World Series win in 1967.  Despite being over 90 years old, he has remained active as a coach and guest instructor during spring training.  He is also the answer to my trivia question in Countdown post #6.  He wore #6 as a rookie in 1945 while Stan Musial was serving in the militay.  He switched to #2 the following year and has worn it ever since.  The Cardinals retired the #2 in 1996.
